FAQ Search Box

How do I find books?

  • In the search box, you can search for a specific title or a general topic and then click on the Search button.  This is demonstrated in the search below where we search for the topic child development.

  • You will be taken to a results page where you can use limiters on the left to filter the results further.
  • We recommend first filtering by the Full-text online and Books facets because finding an ebook is the easiest and quickest way to find a book.
  • Click on the ebooks page for directions on how to open an ebook.

  • However, if you cannot find an ebook that fits your needs remove the filter for Full-text online.  This will allow you to see a Request Access option, which includes physical books.

Request Access Option

  • Clicking the “Request Access” button will take you to the next screen where you will see whether the book is available as a physical book at CSUSM or as a possible Interlibrary Loan.

  • If it is a physical book at CSUSM, sign in with your CSUSM username and password and you will then be given the option to pick up the book at the Library, pickup from the touchless lockers at CSUSM or to have the book mailed to you.

Library Lockers or Mail Home Options

  • If CSUSM does not own the physical copy, you can request to get it through Interlibrary Loan by clicking the “Get It Through Interlibrary Loan” or by going straight to the ILL form

Image showing the Interlibrary Loan landing page.

  • We will borrow it from another Library digitally; if that isn't possible, we'll see if we can purchase or otherwise get you digital access as soon as possible.
  • You can contact Interlibrary Loan for help at ill@csusm.edu.
